About us

Craven and Harrogate Districts CAB was formed in October 2014 from the 3 independent bureaux in Craven, Harrogate and Ripon.

We serve the towns and villages in the Craven District and Harrogate Borough Council areas.

We advise on a full range of legal issues, including benefits, debt, consumer issues, housing, employment, the legal system, tax, immigration and family law.

We are staffed almost entirely by dedicated, skilled volunteers. We offer assessment interviews with follow-up appointments as necessary.

All our offices and outreaches are wheelchair-accessible and we have parking spaces for people with mobility problems. If you are not able to come to the bureau we can arrange to visit you at home, advise you by email or by phone.

Our vision for the merged Craven and Harrogate Districts Citizens Advice Bureau is:

To deliver client centred, accessible, responsive and high quality advice services throughout the communities of the Districts of Craven and Harrogate.  Together we will evolve to meet changing needs, developing proactively to ensure the most effective, efficient and sustainable advice service provision and social policy research and campaigning.

Volunteer

The majority of advisers are trained volunteers, helping the Citizens Advice service to resolve over seven million new problems every year.

Our service couldn’t survive without our 21,500 fantastic volunteers, but we need around 5,000 more. We’re looking for all sorts of people with different backgrounds and skills to volunteer with us for a uniquely rewarding experience.

About the Citizens Advice service

There are 338 Citizens Advice Bureaux across England and Wales, all of which are members of Citizens Advice.

Together, we are the Citizens Advice service, and we help people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers.

Support us

Because every Citizens Advice Bureau is an independent charity we rely on the support of people like you.

With a Citizens Advice Bureau in the community people always have somewhere to turn in times of crisis, but the unmet demand for our service is growing. Can you help us to help more people?
